International award winning architect, Jae Cha, joins the faculty of architecture this spring as a visiting professor. After earning her M.Arch. at Yale and working in the D.C. firm Leo Daly, Professor Cha and light, inc. developed a number of third-world community buildings, winning awards for the ethereal use of natural light with spartan local materials. The resulting architecture, built locally with community labor, is remarkable and inspiring. We are excited to experience Professor Cha’s illuminating and joyful impact upon the department of architecture at Judson University this spring.

Judson University is proud to present the second World Leader’s Forum, featuring President Mikhail Gorbachev. This annual event brings groups of World Leaders to the campus to inspire leadership for all who attend.

One of the most influential leaders of the 20th century, President Gorbachev served as leader of the Soviet Union from 1985 to 1991, and met frequently with then U.S. President Ronald Reagan to discuss global concerns and the impact of the ongoing arms race between the two countries.

Recognizing that the Soviet Union needed political and economic reform, he introduced to the world two new words: perestroika (government restructuring) and glasnost (political openness). His leadership eventually contributed to the end of the Cold War and brought about widespread change in the policies and political structures of Eastern Europe and the world. His astonishing achievements were recognized when President Gorbachev was named the 1988 Time magazine person of the year and when he received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1990.

Judson University accepts a limited number of architecture students transferring in from other colleges and universities. Many universities and some colleges offer a pre-architecture beginning program, which hypothetically allows students to transfer into the third year of architecture at Judson. However, Judson requires all students to formally apply to the third year (the pre-professional years) of the program by February 15 each year, including transfer students. So if you are considering applying to JU, and you are transferring two years of pre-architecture program credit into JU, please note the departmental deadline of Feb 15, 2013.
